About the Company
Liquid VPN is owned by S.M.R Hosting L.L.C’s Dave Cox. There are a number of services that SMR Hosting provides some of which are SMM, SEO, Domain Registration and so on. The VPN service is pretty new but has already made its mark in the industry, making everyone notice the hard work team Liquid VPN has put in for this project.
We are about to thoroughly analyze all the features that Liquid VPN provides to its users around the world.
Liquid VPN’s network has around 40 servers. These servers are installed in 5 countries. A total of 400 IPs are currently offered through these 32 servers. Apparently the number of servers is far behind when compared to the VPN networks of other providers. We tested out different servers with hopes that the limited servers will offer powerful services but were not very satisfied as the speed was slow on most of the servers, especially while streaming videos.
It is important to mention here that Liquid VPN will soon integrate Suricata into their service infrastructure. This will allow users to utilize Open Source Next Generation Intrusion Detection and Prevention Engine for IPS security as well as advanced IP modulation.
The pricing plans are simple. There are total 4 packages which are:
SideKick – $6/month ($54/year)
Road Warrior – $10/month ($84/year)
Ultimate – $18/month ($144/year)
Static IP – $25/month ($156/year)
All packages come with all features that Liquid VPN provides with the difference of the number of multi logins. The SideKick and Static IP packages offer 2 simultaneous connections, while the Road Warrior gives 4 and the Ultimate gives 8 logins. Whilst the SideKick and Road Warrior give great value for money, the Ultimate package is too expensive. It doesn’t sound like a good idea to give an extra $8 a month just for some additional logins.
Free Trial: Liquid VPN currently does not offer any free trial. However, all subscriptions come with a 7 day money back guarantee so the users can test out the service before continuing with a full package plan.
When it comes to payment methods, Liquid VPN is very strong in this area. Liquid VPN accepts payments through all the major payment modes including Credit and Debit Cards. However, you will have to open a ticket to place your order via Credit or Debit Card. The good thing is that cash and checks are also accepted. Last but not least, the most preferred payment mode, Bitcoin, is also supported!
Protocol Support & Encryption
Liquid VPN doesn’t offer a lot of protocols. Currently, the offered protocols include PPTP, L2TP and OpenVPN protocols. The encryption is 128 bit Microsoft Point-to-Point encryption. L2TP, on the other hand, uses 256 bit version. The OpenVPN encryption changes though with technology and may go as high as 2048 bit RSA.
Dave Cox has ensured that his VPN service remains highly compatible and seamless in its functionality on all the major devices and platforms. Since Liquid VPN is partnered with Sparklabs, it is able to cater to large portion of VPN compatibility demand. Liquid VPN supports Android, Windows, iOS and Linux OS. You can also set it up on a number of routers and gaming consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One. You can also set up Liquid VPN on your favorite device via manual settings.
Liquid VPN’s unique selling proposition is that when you download the VPN you basically download Liquid Viscosity VPN client, which is a modified version of Sparklabs’ Viscosity OpenVPN client. It is designed to work for Liquid VPN subscribers. The VPN client is a strong feature-rich application that provides good security and anonymity.
Another good thing about Liquid VPN is that it supports P2P filesharing. If you are a fan of P2P downloading or like to share with the world what you can share for free such as music, books etc. you would love to do it all on Liquid VPN.
Liquid VPN does support Multi logins. However, how many devices you can simultaneously use with Liquid VPN depends on the package you choose. The minimum number of multi logins is two and goes all the way up to a whopping ten! These many multi logins are more than enough to cover all of your internet devices.
Money Back Guarantee: Liquid VPN gives a 7 days money back guarantee that can be utilized to test out the VPN services. You don’t have to rush because a week’s time is more than enough to calmly check how good of a VPN service Liquid VPN is in terms of security, anonymity and freedom. In case of dissatisfaction, you can claim a refund before the 7 day ends.
Logs Policy: Liquid VPN keeps no user activity logs. It doesn’t log browsing history, traffic data or even IP addresses of the users. However, the only type of log maintained is the bandwidth used. We like this approach of Liquid VPN.
Customer support is offered through e-mail, trouble ticket and live chat. While most VPN providers that offer live chat have representatives available 24 hours a day, Liquid VPN only has its support staff available from 8 to 16 hours a day. However, when a representative is not available, you can write an e-mail which will be answered soon as well.
However, it is advised to wait for at least a few hours because when we wrote an e-mail to Liquid VPN we were answered to after 1.5 hours. Thus the customer support is a bit slow but effective as it almost always have the solution to all the problems users are facing.
Innovative Features or Special Add-ons
We were surprised that a VPN service of this class doesn’t really offer any additional features or special Add-Ons. Here are the details of which additional features it provides and which it doesn’t that many other of its competitors offer to the users:
Dedicated IPs – Yes
You can buy a dedicated IP from Liquid VPN for personal or professional use. This IP can be from any of the offered countries and would be assigned specifically to you only.
Internet Kill Switch – Yes
The Kill Switch feature is an extremely useful one. When user’s VPN connection drops, this feature disconnects all the browsing and streaming activities to keep the user secure at all times.
Streaming Booster – No
Online Gaming Support – No
NAT Firewall –No
Web Protection – No
Anti Malware Protection – No
Encrypted Email – No
Stealth Browser – No
DDoS Attack Protection – No
There are a lot of good things we would like you to know about Liquid VPN. The VPN provider has put a lot of efforts in developing this service so we believe they deserve all the praise. Here are the pros of Liquid VPN:
- No-Logs Policy
- Great Encryption
- P2P is allowed
- Dedicated IPs are offered
- Multi-Login support
- Basic package plan is pretty cheap
While there are a lot of pros, there are some cons too, which go as followed:
- Far too much personal info is required while signing up
- Modulating IP based connections are at times very poor
- Most of the information about the service’s features is not available on their website
You cannot deny the fact that Liquid VPN is one of the most promising new entrants in the VPN industry. Yes, there is a lot of margin for development and improvement but whatever is currently offered is pretty good. The area Liquid VPN team needs to work in the most is the VPN network coverage. The servers are inadequate and more should be deployed in other parts of the world too.
