About the Company
OverPlay is a fairly new VPN service and not many people know about it yet. However, it doesn’t mean that this VPN is behind all the other VPN services in the industry. OverPlay is surely one of the most innovative VPN services of the current times and there are many reasons of opting for this VPN. OverPlay offers two packages, which are simple and useful. We will discuss the packages and features below.
OverPlay is not feature-rich but does offer quick and effective unblocking, anonymity and speedy streaming. Let’s take a look at what OverPlay offers:
OverPlay has a decent VPN network consisted of 67 servers. The servers are strategically installed in 48 locations around the world, allowing global users to access their desired content, securely and anonymously.
OverPlay has the easiest to comprehend pricing plans in the whole industry. There are basically two packages, which are SmartDNS and Global VPN. The SmartDNS plan only offers unblocking of content while the Global VPN provides ultimate security of an encrypted connection. The Global VPN package comes along with the SmartDNS feature as a default. The package pricing starts from as low as $4.95 and goes as high as $9.95 (a month). OverPlay doesn’t offer a free plan as of yet.
OverPlay offers a good range of payment methods. In past its payment support wasn’t as good as it is today. Earlier the VPN provider only accepted payments through Authorize.net but today they accept payments from PayPal as well as all the other leading credit and debit cards. Diners Club, Google Checkout and JCB are also supported. However, unfortunately, Bitcoin is not offered as of yet.
Protocol Support & Encryption
Fortunately, OverPlay offers all the major protocols that both professional and regular users require today. The supported protocols include L2TP/IPSec, PPTP, OpenVPN, SSTP and SSL. If you are an advanced VPN user, you would definitely want to switch between protocols and for that you’ll love OverPlay. The encryption, however, is not extremely efficient as it is 128 bit instead of 256 which many of the other leading VPN providers offer today.
Quite frankly, we were very skeptical about the operating systems and devices OverPlay would support. We were caught with surprise when we configured the VPN on diverse devices and OS and on each the service worked like a charm! The supported OS include Windows, Mac, Android and iOS. OverPlay is also supported on DDWRT Router, Tablet PCs and Nokia handsets. OverPlay comes in shape of an easy-to-use software, which is fast yet effective for every user and their requirements. For routers and devices on which the App cannot be installed, there are manual settings to utilize. Manual settings are available on the OverPlay websites as well as can be acquired from a customer service representative via Support Center.
Another best thing about OverPlay is that it allows P2P file sharing. However, it is clearly mentioned on the official OverPlay website that the VPN Company does not allow sharing of pirated material. OverPlay supports the use of peer-2-peer networks such as Bit Torrent, uTorrent etc.
The service allows 2 Simultaneous Connections. The connections can be made on different kinds of devices (any of the supported devices mentioned above) manually or automatically.
Money Back Guarantee: OverPlay offers a 48 hour trial period (money back guarantee). It is pretty much useless if you are just looking for a try-out with the intention of buying the VPN sometime later on.
Logs policy: According to the terms and conditions available on the OverPlay website, the VPN Company doesn’t seem to have a concrete policy for logs. There is no mentioning of information which would be required at the time of signup. We decided to talk to an OverPlay representative via live chat. When we talked to their support executive, we were very surprised that he required our name, personal information and e-mail ID used for the sign up.
This is not all, he also asked for our login IP address, date/time and connection duration. This rang a huge bell because if a VPN provider is asking for all these personal details then what would be the purpose of using a VPN in the first place! Fishy stuff, ain’t it?
The Customer Support is very helpful. There are three options to reach out the customer support for the issues you are facing or just to get answers to basic yet essential questions:
- 24/7 Support
- Phone Support
- Remote Desktop
While the ‘24/7 support’ is actually available round the clock, ‘Phone Support’ might take some time depending on the time-zones and/or the availability of customer representative who go on voice chat sessions with customers. ‘Remote Desktop’ is the last resort when a problem cannot be dealt with by the user and so the support staff takes control of users’ system and fixes whatever issue they are facing. This might take some time as well because the staff is obviously not available all the time for remote assistance as the activity is usually time-consuming.
Innovative Features or Special Add-ons
Following are the details of special features or Add-Ons that OverPlay offers:
Dedicated IPs – No
Internet Kill Switch – No
Streaming Booster – Yes
OverPlay offers SmartDNS feature that unblocks hundreds of streaming channels without dropping the internet speed.

Anti Malware Protection – No
Encrypted Email – No

DDoS Attack Protection – No
After the thorough analysis, we came to the conclusion that OverPlay has a number of things that should be appreciated. Here’s what makes OverPlay a very decent VPN service:
- Compatibility with all major OS and Devices
- Packages are easy to understand and choose
- Offers 2 multi-logins, P2P, VoIP and Gaming support
There aren’t a lot of cons of the service but a couple of shortcomings which are worth mentioning are:
- Lack of features
- Doesn’t have a concrete log policy
- Bitcoin is not supported
OverPlay is definitely one of the VPN services that deserve a good praise. In a short period of time the VPN Company has made its mark and is climbing the ladder to become one of the best, if not the best VPN service of the industry. The service lacks features and has a weak logs policy but if it works on these areas it would only be loved by more fans that care about their privacy and freedom.
